I am so happy that drywall is finished and the rooms are finally defined! I can’t see from one end of the house to the other, which is pretty amazing. This has been a major step and we are so excited! The drywall house progress update is one of my favorites so far. 🙂
For the below picture I was standing in the door that leads into the house from the garage. At the end of this hallway you can see the kitchen window. The first door to the right is a closet, second door is the laundry room and the third door is the powder bathroom. The door on the left side of the hallway leads to the guest room.
This cut out in the hallway leading from the garage to the kitchen is the mudroom lockers. We will have 5 separate sections for each family member and then one for a guest. I’m pushing for drawers at the bottom so we can hide away our shoes and open shelving at the top to put baskets in. I’m thinking winter hats, gloves, etc. can be stored in the baskets above.
This picture was taken after I walked through the hallway and I’m standing by the powder bath door. This will be the main part of the kitchen with a big 10 foot island! We just finalized our countertops and they are so beautiful!
We will have a small breakfast nook for everyday dining and the formal dining room will come directly off the kitchen by the island. This is standing where the island will be looking into the dining room. It will be a nice cased opening and you can see we are doing two lights in the ceiling over the table. I have to do an entire post dedicated to the lighting we selected. We had to buy 28 lights total and that was pretty overwhelming!
The screened porch fireplace brick is complete and they just poured the raised aggregate for the floor. Hopefully, the columns will be going up soon and we also have a huge barn beam we found in my husband’s parents barn that we will be using for the mantle. As you can see we were testing stains for the wood on the ceiling and we found a winner!
The last picture I took is in the living room with the fireplace. We just picked out all of our tile and my favorite is what we selected for this fireplace surround. It is so beautiful. I’ll also have to do a post all about our tile selections. It was pretty overwhelming, but we used The Tile Shop and they were great to work with.
