As our house progresses (remember we are a year and a half into the process), we’ve realized that we haven’t even hit the tough part yet! We thought designing the floor plan and exterior was hard, but we’ve only grazed the tip of the ice berg. We now realize how many decisions need to be made in a short time frame. After a 4 hour meeting regarding our window package, our contractor casually said “oh yeah, you need to pick a garage door too. Here is a brochure of what I generally use.”
While the garage doors in that brochure were fine, I knew I wanted the doors on our house to be a statement piece! I’d always envisioned stained wood to balance out the white board and batten because number one rule of a black and white design is to warm it up with some wood tones. I don’t want a stark looking house and I know wood is key to achieving the look I envision.
So off to Pinterest I went so I could put together some ideas to show our contractor for our next meeting. I also let him know that he was going to have to dig out some more brochures, ha!
2. I guess I should hire Tiffany Harris because her work is flawless! This is a great option if we find out that staining a door would be out of our budget. I love the barn door feel with windows. I’ve seen this option in one of the brochures from our contractor so we may end up with this style!
4. I’m loving this modern door with the herringbone pattern! Via Molly Wood Garden Design
5. I didn’t think I’d like an option without windows, but I’m loving the garage door design below.
Now it’s off to make our final decision. I’ll be sure to let you know what we go with!
