Are you ready to take your door hardware from brassy to classy?! I see so many homes that were built around 1990 through early 2000’s that have shiny brassy door hardware throughout the entire house. I have an easy and inexpensive door update that you can tackle in a weekend. Does this look familiar?
I will acknowledge that gold hardware is coming back in full force lately, but it is usually a matte finish or a champagne bronze and doesn’t have the shiny feel that the old school hardware does. Believe me, we will have gold hardware in our new house, but it will be more modern like this.
When we moved into our current house we had shiny handles on every door. It only took a weekend to update everything to an oil rubbed bronze finish and it has made all the difference!
We ordered a bottle of Rust-Oleum 249131 11 oz Universal All Surface Spray Paint, Oil Rubbed Bronze Metallic and I am so happy to say after 6 years of living with spray painted handles it has held up better than I could have imagined!
The Rustoleum spray paint is all weather, all surface so you don’t get chipping very easily.
The two door handles that have shown wear and tear recently are the pantry door and master closet door. Those are the two most used handles in our house and there are a few small spots that have rubbed off, but it took 6 years of use to see any wear and tear. It will be super easy to do quick touch up on those two handles and the will look like new again. Below is the small chip on our pantry door so you can see what it looks like after 6 years. #reallife
